What do you like most about the lighting industry?
I have been intrigued by lighting since I began attending concerts at a young age. I love the way that lighting as a form of art can enhance and support other forms of art in tandem. It influences the mood, emotion, and perception of the viewer which I find to be extremely powerful.
Who inspires you?
I am always inspired by women in the Lighting Industry. It feels so empowering to have fellow women who feel passionate about what we do here at VLS!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to enter the lighting industry?
Take every learning opportunity that you can, no matter how small it may seem at the time. Any opportunity to place yourself around knowledgeable industry professionals is endlessly valuable, as lighting really is a team sport!
What’s one thing — either industry-related or not — you learned in the last month?
I love a fun fact so here’s one I just learned… an average worker bee will only make 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
When I was 18, I got my Scuba Diving certification! I’ve been on multiple dives in Mexico, and my favorite sea creature I’ve swam with was a massive Eagle Ray.
What’s the last book you read?
I’m about halfway through the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, so I just finished Book 4, Queen of Shadows! I’m doing a reading challenge this year and my goal is to read 50 books, I’m currently at 22!
What is your favorite hobby?
About two years ago I taught myself to crochet, and I love to make everything from sweaters to stuffed animals! My most recent project was a floral patchwork tote bag.
What’s the first concert you ever attended?
My first concert was Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at Blossom Music Center! I absolutely adore going to concerts, I’ve been to somewhere around 60.

My dream destinations are Greece and Italy.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Veggie Pad Thai (Ideally from Bangkok Kitchen in Maumee, I used to go there all the time in college, and I still crave it!)
What’s one item you can’t live without?
I don’t go anywhere without my water bottle full of ice water, the idea of drinking warm water haunts me.
