The team is composed of lighting designers, lighting technicians, and knowledgeable support staff who ensure equipment functions flawlessly and is maintained and prepared for events. ## Apply for the 2025 Internship Program ## Scope The goal of the Vincent Lighting Systems Internship Program is to help build the network, skills, and professional development of aspiring professionals in the lighting and rigging industry. The program is a three-way partnership between the intern, VLS, and the educational institution sponsoring the intern. VLS wants to create an environment where interns experience different facets of the lighting and rigging business. The internship also helps VLS evaluate interns as potential future team members and provides educational sponsors with a link to the public sector for industry networking and technical innovation. ## Requirements Candidates must: - Be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2025 or have parent/guardian approval. - Be a US citizen, naturalized citizen, or legally able to work in the United States. - Be a current student in good standing with at least a 3.0 GPA at a university, college, or educational institution in a theater or visual design program. - Have written approval from a professor, instructor, or other staff member from the educational sponsor. - Be able to find temporary residence near one of the Cleveland or Cincinnati offices at the intern’s cost. - Submit the application by April 14, 2025. High school students may be accepted for an abbreviated internship. ## Timing VLS wants the internship to be customized around the intern’s educational break schedule. Ideally, the internship lasts between two and six months. VLS hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. During rental and production rotations, there may be opportunities for site work after normal business hours and on weekends with advanced notice. ## Location VLS has full-service offices in Cleveland, Ohio and Erlanger, Kentucky, near Cincinnati. Based on the intern’s housing situation, VLS can tailor the internship around any office. VLS does not provide housing. Interns are required to have reliable transportation to and from the office. Interns are not expected to use personal vehicles to transport equipment or travel to and from job sites. ## Pay Interns receive compensation at $16/hour. Health care and other benefits are not offered as part of the internship. Interns complete a W2 and receive standard tax and required withholdings. Paychecks are issued every other week and may be made via direct deposit through ADP. Interns are covered under VLS worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance while working for VLS. ## Equipment and Materials VLS provides required equipment and materials, including safety equipment required by OSHA. Interns must wear job-appropriate clothing depending on their rotation. During service and rental/production rotations, interns may bring personal tools to the office or jobsite. ## Accreditation VLS works with the educational sponsor in advance to outline internship requirements. Interns must keep a daily diary describing completed work and new skills or areas learned.
